Aug. 20th, 2010 11:50 amThis afternoon, I plan to impersonate
bakuwaki for the nefarious purpose of stealing her vegetables! Muahahaha! OK, well, really she and
shroderdog and their young'un Captain Awesome are out of town, and they offered to let me get their CSA share since they can't pick it up. Mmm. Farm-fresh veggies. :D I just have to go and collect them from a young man who goes by the moniker of Sweet Tea. Yes. Really. (Red Fire Farms, in case you were wondering.)
So in sadder produce news, our peach tree cracked down the middle of the main trunk. It had been sort of Y-shaped, with a larger trunk and a smaller one. coming off the trunk a few feet up. I saw it bent over on the ground in the morning yesterday. :( We got a saw and cut it off just below the break, and then sprayed the cut with that protective stuff. I'm hoping that since that branch is still alive for the time being, the peaches on it will finish ripening before they go bad. I'm going to prune that tree after this harvest, because it's really not being tended at all, and I'm pretty sure it was the weight of the unpruned branches that caused the crack.
Now to go to lunch with my coworkers.
