Transformation of the blues

I actually got started on my mead yesterday. It made sense because I knew I had the time yesterday afternoon when I got back from picking up my new glasses (and buying a new rain jacket, which I desperately needed). I'm following meadmaker's advice and doing the first fermentation without the juice, just with the honey and half the volume of water (in which I steeped the lavender) and the vanilla beans. I'm happy to say that right now, the two gallon jugs sitting on my kitchen table are bubbling away, and their "dancing hat" fermentation locks are dancing their little heads off. Yay! We have fermentation! :) When I rack this stuff in a week or two, I will add the juice. Right now the color is sort of brownish purple, but hopefully after adding the juice it will be much richer. Because of the blue-purple colors of the blueberries and the lavender, and because I'm doing it as a way of cheering myself up after pierceheart's deployment, I'm calling this mead "Transformation of the Blues." Oh, and now I have a honeybee icon! Bzzzzzz. :D

So. Today, I need to bring my cat to the vet for her annual checkup. I need to (probably) buy stuff for making dinner for kyrian03 this evening, because she's coming over. I also need to be here (also around dinnertime) for miss_lisa_ma to pick up Binky (pierceheart's car) and take him for the year. Yay! Someone who actually drives can deal with him!

I'm in a better mood than I was this time yesterday, that's for sure. The sunshine helps.

Oh, man, I don't know that I'd be good enough for something like that. Are there any little bit parts? Like, Third Shepherd from the Left? :P

Yes, tons of teeny parts. We need innkeepers, we need sheep (not a dancing part but definitely a funny part where you get to run away from the shepherds), and so forth.

I kind of liked the rain until yesterday when it got really bad. Of course, by the time I replaced my eleven year old leaky rain jacket with a new, cute, DRY one, the rain had slowed down for the most part!
