Updates and stuff

Life is going along pretty darn well. I'm fortunate to have awesome friends and family. :) Here's what the past few days have looked like for me:

Thursday: I brought the cat to the vet. Much meowing. Then I had kyrian03 over for dinner and some nice catching-up chat. That was fun.

Friday: My parents came up for a day in town with me. The big reason for the visit was that I've been nagging my mom for ages to come with me to Intimacy to get a bra fitting. She finally did, and since my dad was on vacation, he came too, and hung out in the mall while we were at Intimacy. My mom was so thrilled with the fitting and the fit of her new bras that she hugged the saleswoman who'd helped her. It was cute. When we were all in the fitting room, my mom was saying that she was used to minimizers, and didn't want "everything sticking way out" in a new bra. I said, "better out than down, Mom." We then went to Cheesecake Factory for lunch, where we had salads which, in a lunch portion, were way bigger than we could eat. Then, I went to gracewillow's place to help her with some packing for her move. After we'd made some good progress, we went to Super 88 to wander around and shop.

Saturday: I started the day with oodles of laundry and household chores. In the evening, tigira and meadmaker kindly hosted me for a very tasty dinner. We had fun chatting and looking at hula videos on YouTube, and they invited me to come with them to the Marshfield Fair the next day. I said yes. While I was there, pierceheart called me. Yay! First voice contact since he left. It was great to talk to him.

Sunday: The Marshfield Fair was blazing hot, but when you're there with two great friends and their way-too-cute five year old son, it's tons of fun. We looked at lots of farm animals (including OMG baby bunnehs!) and enormous vegetables, bought some honey, watched F play games and win prizes, and saw a magic show. I got to pet a large python. Python? Think she was a python. Anyway, AWESOME. Also, tigira and I got fried whole-belly clams, and I got a Del's Lemonade afterwards. These things made me one happy Rhode Islander. :D Then, when I got home, I cooked and ate dinner, did some cleanup and garden-care, and took a shower. I got to talk to my love for a few minutes on Skype before bed, as I happened to see him come online there. Then I went to bed at a reasonable hour so I could get up for work.

And now, I should get back to all the work I have to do today, which is a significant amount. But I just wanted to take a minute to mention all the stuff I've been doing so people can see that I'm having fun with people I care about, and that life is good. :)

man, what is the deal with cheesecake factory portions. We always just order one app and one entree and split them and can barely eat it all.

Nordstroms offers fittings but don't carry anything in my G or so cup size. If I find a place within 50 miles that offer fittings, either the bras are out of my price range ($92! I don't pay more than $40, thank you), they don't carry anything I want to wear (I MUST be able to get into my own bra without assistance, unless we're talking performance bras), or they simply don't carry my size. Goddess, Glamorize, Fantasie, all stink for my needs. I have to have balconnet style or plunge due to wires being too high, or pointing outward in the center. Bending them hasn't worked: I need short center bones in order to keep them close to my chest wall.

Don't ask me about shoe issues!

Hmm. If you know your size, can you get your bras online? Have you tried anything by Panache, Freya, Wacoal, Chantelle, Simone Perel, etc.? Also, if your bra center isn't resting against your breastbone, it's often due to a too-small cup size issue. I had that problem when I was wearing a 36DD, but a 32F or FF (I seem to need that if it's a plunge), it stays where it's supposed to whether the center wires are long or short. I still prefer the balconettes or plunge, though, because I like low necklines! Now, the price issue is going to be tricky, because mostly, good bras for busty women are not cheap. I'd love to pay less than $40 without any special deals or restrictions, but have resigned myself to the fact that I'm more likely to pay at least that much even on eBay, generally, unless I find a place online that's having a sale, or unless I get the grab bags from breakoutbras.com, which run the risk of not fitting even though I get them in my usual size, and can't be returned.

Panache & Frey a fit me well indeed, when my cup size hasn't changed and I don't know the current size. Merely going one up has not always worked.

I have NEVER had a full size wire stay close to my chest wall. I am very short in the cup length, and need a "petite Plus" sizing.

that's the biggest food item I miss from New England :-(
good seafood in general - but that specifically.
well, that - and decent chinese food.

I really need to get a bra fitting.
