Pluses and minuses
Sep. 30th, 2010 10:36 am+ Had a great time plotting veil madness with
nepenthe01 and friend last night.
+ When I got home, I finished the last row of one chart and then got started on the final chart for my shawl. I was doing just great, and had no moments of, "Wait, did I miss a stitch/repeat/yarn over?"
- Then, after that first row of the new chart, I realized that I had been doing the center portion of the shawl exactly the same way for the entirety of the last chart. I though the center part didn't change until the new chart. Turns out it changed 10 rows back from where I am now. No, I can't just leave it, because it was supposed to be getting wider all along. I can't increase that much all at once to catch up, and if I don't get to the width I'm supposed to be at, the shawl won't be big enough. I have to undo back several lifelines. CRAP. This will be a serious pain because of all the beads. It's hard to hold onto all of them when I rip out rows on this shawl. I inevitably lose a bunch. Not a big deal since I have way more than I need, but it can be messy. And by the way, with the size of these rows and the complexity of them (because of the beading, primarily) this means that AFTER I have ripped stuff out, put it back on the needles and unknitted two additional rows, I have about 4-5 hours of straight knitting to get back to where I am now. GRR.
+ At least I'll probably have an opportunity to get a lot of work done on the shawl at my parents' house this weekend. I haven't been to visit them by myself when my sister wasn't also there in a long time. This'll be restful, though. I kind of need it. My vacation was fairly eventful, and I need UNeventful for a weekend.
+ And in case I haven't said it in a while, I have the BEST PARENTS EVER. They are taking me to see Spamalot this spring! :D How cool is that?
