Directions to my recital
Apr. 26th, 2004 03:11 pmDirections are Here are the directions for the Recital, which will be
held on May 8, 2003, at 1PM at 775 Commonwealth
Avenue, Boston, in the George Sherman Student Union,
second floor conference auditorium on the Boston University
campus.
If you are coming from the west, take the Mass Pike
East. Get off at the Brighton/Allston tolls, which is
a left exit. When you come off the ramp travel in the
right lane and take a right at the lights (the Double
Tree Inn will be on the right corner) onto Storrow
Drive.
Just to give you an orientation where the Student
Union is, it is the building on the left hand side if you were
to get off at the first BU exit you come to. I suggest, however,
that you do not take this exit, but rather go one
further, to Kenmore Square. That will give you more
distance to find parking.
Get off at the second BU exit, which will be Kenmore
Square. **At the lights take a right. You will be
facing a triangle shaped building. Commonwealth
Avenue is to the left of it, Bay State Road is to the
right of it. There is usually lots of parking on Bay
State Road and its side streets in the evening. If not,
get on to Commonwealth Avenue and look for parking
there. Circle around and come back up from Kenmore
Square if you have not found any parking on Bay State
Road.
If you are coming from Memorial Drive, go over the BU
bridge, and take a right onto Commonwealth Avenue and
either find parking facing in that direction or come
back down Commonwealth Avenue towards Kenmore Square.
If you are coming from the North get on Storrow Drive West and exit at the Kenmore Square/Fenway Exit. It is a left exit off Storrow Drive. After exiting stay to the right for Kenmore Square and follow the directions above marked **
Be prepared to travel somewhat up on
Commonwealth Avenue (the streetcar is free going up
Commonwealth Ave, so if you have to walk down from
your car, at least you don't have to walk back up).
You can also go into the Brookline side streets, St.
Paul, Amory, Pleasant. If it's nice weather and you are
willing to walk a little bit, you can park on Beacon
Street, which runs parallel to Commonwealth Avenue and
walk over. Remember, there is a Red Sox home game that
day so it will be hard to find parking near Kenmore Square.
Don't be too intimidated or discouraged. Just
drive around - you'll find something. Consider it all
part of the adventure!
I suggest that you do NOT park in an unattended BU
parking lot. However, if there is an attendant, you
are certainly welcome to park and pay the price!
As far as the subway goes: Take the Green Line "B"
Boston College outbound. Get off two stops after
Kenmore Square, and walk up to the corner of
University Road and Commonwealth Avenue. The Student
Union is on the corner. Or, you can get off the stop after the BU Bridge
and walk back.
The Student Union has a plaza in front with a Fleet Bank.
