Why I chuck most poems I write:
Oct. 16th, 2003 12:35 pm"I am two fools, I know, / For loving, and for saying so / In whining Poetry"
--John Donne
It's funny, how most of my best poems are NOT written out of that deep, soul-wrenching angst that you get when you're in love and unhappy. Those ones always suck. Most of my best ones are experiments in structure or lack thereof, or just built around a phrase or image that struck me as interesting. Actually, though, one of the experiments in structure *is* about love, and it turned out pretty nice.
