Updates 'n' stuff
Jul. 24th, 2006 09:33 amI have now seen the second Pirates of the Caribbean flick TWICE. Friday night, with
pierceheart,
witchyspyce,
whiteboy, and
cloakedrose, and Saturday with
geoogo. I'd heard bad reviews of it from the pros, but I really enjoyed it. The slapstick was artful: it didn't make me cringe the way most of it does. The way Johnny Depp moves in that movie--just walking, or reaching for something, or running away--is enough to make me howl with laughter. Oh, and he is teh hott. Orlando Bloom getting his shirt ripped off for a flogging at the grate wasn't too bad either! He doesn't look like a girly-man anymore. This makes me want to host a Pirate Party someday.
Sunday I wasn't feeling too hot, so I didn't do much besides run a couple of errands during the day. I'm STILL not feeling too hot, actually, but it's not bad enough to keep me out of work. Just an upset stomach. Wish I had some ginger tea or something. I didn't sleep all that well last night, either, I feel like I spent quite a bit of time in a half-awake, half-asleep state. In that state, I had something that was partly a dream and partly just uncontrolled thoughts that involved the afterlife being a blog where you can communicate with the living. Or something like that. Like, after you were dead, you continued to exist, but the only way you could interact with anyone was via blog. It was strange. I also dreamed about flying. As it pretty much ALWAYS is for me with flying dreams, this was a lucid dream. I am always a little nervous about flying in dreams because it takes an enormous amount of concentration and willpower to stay up, but I reasoned with myself about this. I said, "Look, this is a dream, right? So even if you DON'T manage to keep that concentration and you fall, you know you won't be injured. Have you ever been injured when falling out of the sky in dreams? No. It doesn't even hurt in the dream. So just have fun with it!" It WAS fun. I was flying over a city that I think was Boston, but which had a lot of green spaces. I was flying over the coastline. I could also see that there was a city under the water, in the ocean. It looked like the rest of the city on land, but...wet. I thought, "Interesting, I didn't know that was there. Cool!" And there were times when I couldn't stay high enough and started to fall, but I at least kept a little bit off the ground or water. I can't remember if I landed, or if I woke up before that happened. I do like flying dreams. They're a bit scary, but they feel like a good mental exercise. I have them fairly often. Oddly, breathing underwater in dreams is like flying for me: if I concentrate, I can do it. But I have to be careful. Interesting.
Today is my interview! I'll be leaving in about an hour to meet with this woman. I'm psyched! My boss hurt her back over the weekend and is taking the day off, but she e-mailed me to wish me luck. She's sweet.
I bought flour and yeast yesterday. I may well be making my first yeasted bread soon. :)
Just overdosed on Cute Overload. Good way to start the morning. Now, my tired body wants more coffee, but my tummy is saying probably not a good idea right now. Ooook. Early to bed tonight, I think. I just hope I've recovered enough by this evening to actually want to eat the lamb I'm going to cook. I couldn't manage more than about a quarter cup's worth of Eggbeaters and most of a piece of toast this morning. We'll see what happens.
