I had a great night last night.
pierceheart and I went to see
Milk, which was a really excellent movie. It was touching, chilling, inspiring, and amazingly well acted. Go see it. Especially go see it if gay rights is something that's important to you. No, especially go see it if it's NOT. You might change your mind.
pierceheart noted that he wished this movie had come out in October, before the votes on same-sex marriage issues in California and elsewhere. I agree.
We'd gone to the early show--5pm--so we had dinner after the movie. Since we were at the Kendall,
clearly the Cambridge Brewing Company was the only choice. We split an appetizer of duck sausage with wholegrain mustard, lentils, cranberry sauce of some kind, and toasted bread. Tasty, though a little too smoked for me. I had salmon with parsnip puree, roasted butternut squash, and roasted brussels sprouts for my entree. HEAVEN. Dessert was their golden ale creme brulee, which was divine. I had a Late Harvest IPA with my meal, a delicious brew that included my beloved Amarillo hops. With dessert, I had the Spinal Pumpkin: a pumpkin ale that "goes to 11". 11% ABV, that is. NOM. We ran into
zzbottom and
library_sexy at CBC. They were having dinner with friends. It was great to see them again--haven't run into them since my housewarming!
Tonight I have the house to myself, so I may get a headstart on soaking dried fruit for the fruitcake I'm baking this weekend. That's Alton Brown's
Free Range Fruitcake, if you're wondering. By Christmas and Yule, it should be made of pure awesome. I am going to cut out the currants and add some candied citrus peel, though. Because I like it. And because currants and raisins are overkill. I must buy rum and brandy for it, especially since we're low on rum anyway. I can't wait! I love fruitcake, when it's good.
So, what's new with all you folks out there in LJ-land?
