(no subject)

I'm staying home again today. I think the fever's gone, but in its place is a cough and a sore throat combined with lack of sleep (due to the cough) and a general sick-fuzzy-headedness. I don't want to give coworkers the plague, and I think that even if I weren't contagious, I'd probably crash by noon if I tried to work.

On the plus side I am probably capable of doing more at home today than I was yesterday with the fever, like knitting, spinning, and researching PDAs. I think I'm going to have to find one of the old models on eBay, the kind that used to be better than the entry level models when they came out, and now are basically better than the entry level model they have out there now, but just don't have colour screens. Something like that. dahveed76 is also going to check out his own Palm and see if it can be used with Documents To Go. If it can, I might just get that from him instead. And I will pay him for it even if he doesn't want to let me.

I think I need some coffee now.

Wow, when it rains, it pours!

So I was getting cabin fever, and decided to bring a few unwanted pieces of clothing to Goodwill. While I was there, I did my usual scrutinizing of their housewares for anything that might be good on my altar (mostly I look for chalices and candlesticks). I've never found anything there before, but today, I was taking one last look before leaving at a shelf I'd probably already seen twice, and ( this caught my eye: )

SWEET! For a buck, I got a chalice which, while not my ideal "everyday" chalice, seems to go well in its greys and browns with a deity pair I've been working with lately.

Then, on my way home, I decided to make a brief stop in the consignment shop on Highland since I've actually never been in there before. About halfway through the store, I found an amethyst "Twinkle" oil lamp! Now, I got one of these in cobalt blue from my grandmother's place after she passed away. Lucy broke the chimney, but the base is still intact. ( Now, I have a set! )

The purple one was only $12. Doubt they're worth MUCH more than that, but my grandmother put a note on the base of the blue one with the page # where it's located in a certain antiques guide, so maybe I'll find out sometime.

Yeah, good shopping karma. :D
